Excerpts from CHAPTER 13 - Whose Vision Is This?


       In the last days, God said, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will       
       prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

     Acts 2:17            

God has a given us the gift of imagination so that we can see visions and dream dreams. Too often we use this gift to worry about what evil might befall us, but this is not its primary purpose. Robert Kennedy made famous the saying, "Some people see things as they are and ask, 'Why?' I see things that are not and ask, 'Why not?'" Using our collective imagination, the board and staff of Hope Now prepared this Vision Statement:
 

 
Obeying our Lord Jesus Christ, Hope Now for Youth envisions a safe, gang-free community in which all young men are offered a hope-filled future based on the opportunity to make good choices and to develop integrity by becoming responsible fathers who achieve their God-given potential in loving and supporting their families.
 
 

What is the vision you have for your city? Is it God's vision? From the beginning we were convinced that the idea for Hope Now For Youth was in the mind of God from all eternity. In 1992 he chose to reveal the vision to us. Write down the vision you believe God has for the gang members in your city. Even if only one person sees and acts upon the will of God, a city can find new direction...
